Question about building a new desktop box.

It's time for me to replace my poor old PC at home and this time I've decided to build one. I used to build PCs back when the CPU chip names all ended in '86', and enough PCs go through my office that I stay fairly up-to-date on new technology. My question is this: Can I boot a desktop PC from a SATA drive?
I was told that the boot drive had to be IDE, floppy, or USB by a co-worker who's pretty good with PCs, but I don't believe him. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me?


BTW, this is what I'm building in case anyone is interested. I welcome any comments or suggestions.

I'll probably replace the 250Gb Ultra ATA with a couple of smaller SATA drives and set them as a RAID 1 (striped) set for performance.
