Ok. The Gonzalez in the 5-hole Experiment is over. Please. Stop.

I think it's going to take more than one bad game against Roy Oswalt to convince Jerry it's not a good idea. We'll see.

It wasn't because of last nights performance. I simply don't believe he's a #5 hitter.

No, I don't think he is either. I'm just saying that Jerry isn't going to stop hitting him there just because he had a bad game against Oswalt. I don't know if Jerry thinks he is a regular #5 hitter, but I think he is going to keep hitting him there as long as he keeps hitting. My guess is that unless he slumps for several games in a row we'll continue to see him there.

I bet Jerry does. With the exception of last night he has performed like a number 5 hitter. I'd say keep him there until he cools off completely.

Well, Adam Dunn has performed like a #3 hitter. Why is he hitting 6th?

Remember there's a LH pitching, and Gonzalez has done particularly well against them, a .962 OPS.

Dunn's at .742 vs. LH pitching this year.

Jerry was pimping Gonzo's 20 HR ability in the paper today. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Jerry thinks that alone qualifies Gonzo to hit fifth.

Junior's at .629. Makes sense.

Freel has a .357 OPS vs LHP, by the way.

I think M2 was the one talking about this in the lineup thread. The fear of putting a "hot" bat like Gonzo is the 5 hole is that the manager will leave him there LONG after the hot streak is over.

Because he started performing like a #3 hitter when he was moved to #6...and when he was hitting #3 he was performing like a #8?

If Adam isn't hitting 2nd..(where he should be every night) then I'm OK w/ 6th.
