Is it time to find room for Keppinger?
It would probably have to come at the expense of Castro, which could cause a problem becuase Keppinger doesn't play shortstop. Plus, it looks like Hopper has adapted well to the PH role.
He has always hit for a good average in the minors. I have been interetsed in him being on the big club since before his spring injury. Code:

Re: Is it time to find room for Keppinger?
I'd like to see the Keppinger-for-Castro change. Phillips can back up at SS.
Doubt we'll see it. I think a trade of EdE may be more likely -- yyyyeeccchhhhh.

Not unless he can pitch the 8th.

Prediction: Castro and Stanton will both be playing golf while collecting paychecks with Bob's signature next year.

If Narron gets fired before next year, yes for both. Same goes for Wayne. However, I think WK has a longer leash then Narron.

Re: Is it time to find room for Keppinger?
Nope. Krivksy was in Minnesota when Castro was acquired and he went out and got him for us last year, he's a Krivsky type of player

Re: Is it time to find room for Keppinger?
I firmly believe that when Castro's playing days are done, he will be a coach in the Reds system. And I believe that he will be an asset in that capacity.

Good crystal ball there, Buck U. I guess it was just a little fuzzy on who would have to go, though.
![]() Looks like Keppinger has earned a shot.

I've been beating the Keppinger drum for a while now. I think people will be pleasantly surprised. He looks like a RH Hatteberg, although the team could use a RH bat with more power. I hope he gets the majority of the starts so we can all get a good look at him. That keeps Castro on the bench and Freel in the super-sub role. The Reds could do much worse...
