Maybe Adam Dunn doesn't suck

I know people were fretting about that when he had a bad week a while back, but at the moment he's hitting .286/.384/.635. He's on pace to score 139 runs with 51 HR and 111 RBIs.

He'll run hot and cold again this season, but it looks like he might be in for a career-best season ... at age 27. Go figure.

Pick up the option and try to extend him again.

I've said all this year that Adam is a more mature in how he approaches the game this year. I knew he would adjust.

But, but look at this thread from pages 31 up:

He's not a run producer though. He struck out a lot that one time. He sucks.

He seems to have improved on the bases and in the field too.

No sac flies, though. Thom mentioned that last night right before he hit a home run to tie the game.

He's a chip (carey) off the old block he is.

He worked really hard during the offseason and came into camp in great shape. It's made a big difference. IMO, as soon as that happened you could tell this would be a good season for him.

Do you think? I was chomping at the bit for him to single there - that would have been a lot of fun!

Re: Maybe Adam Dunn doesn't suck

Dunn is also on pace to steal 28 bases this season, which I find to be the most amazing stat of all.

Re: Maybe Adam Dunn doesn't suck

I guess it pays off to be in shape....

I suppose thats the number one reason why we've seen him steal more bases and hit 2 triples in the 1st month n half of the season.

He had mentioned a few years back that he thought he could steal about 20 bases a year.

Re: Maybe Adam Dunn doesn't suck

I like Adam Dunn.

Last week I was really starting to lean towards the "trade him" camp. It was getting to the point that I just would rather almost have Castro up there with that runner on 3rd.

While I don't have any factual proof, IMHO Dunn is a very STREAKY hitter. Maybe someone could confirm that for me, or prove it very wrong. That's just what it feels like to me. It's very frustrating.

Re: Maybe Adam Dunn doesn't suck

Dunn has an amazing April. Sound familiar?

The test will be how he performs throughout the summer. Check out his splits for his career.

April: 1.083 OPS
August: .820 OPS
September : .732 OPS

April isn't his problem.

Being in better shape might go a long way towards making a correction in the attrition department.
