Gardner looked pretty unremarkable last night. Didn't change speeds a whole lot, everything came between 80 and 88, and was having some trouble finding the strike zone. That said he was effective for the most part, lots of pop ups and grounders. He got hit HARD in the 5th. The first homer he gave up hit the top of the scoreboard in left. The next batter lined a shot off the wall in left, though Mike Edwards made a nice play on it and threw the runner out at second. Then another HR went out to left. He did regroup and throw a nice 6th though, so that was good to see. Overall I'd say he wasn't really distinguishable from Steve Kelly who threw the first game.
