Aronchis...

not trying to call you out by any means, I've just observed your constant skepticism towards Reds prospects all year, from Bailey to Bruce to Cueto. I've also seen it directed towards non-Reds, such as Lincecum. Not saying at all that its unwarranted criticism, I'd just be curious to know, who is in your minor league top 15 prospects? I know you are high on Cameron Maybin, but who else is it that you actually like (and why)?

Do you really like Maybin more than Bruce?

Actually, I am not that skeptical of all those prospects.
1.Homer Bailey: Actually, I am quite high on Bailey though I question if he truly has this "great ceiling" everybody crows about. But he has good pure stuff(which was evident with his fastball last night) and he needs alot of work on his offspeed pitches though that is understandable at this point. We must keep some perspective. If Bailey does turn into a true number 1, I will be the first to admit it.
2.Bruce and Maybin. My key at this time is Bruce does appear to have a HUGE ceiling. Bigger than Kearns. He is extremely powerfull and can turn singles into doubles. He has outstanding plate coverage(if you watch him bat). But his plate discipline leaves something to be desired at times. He is more Pujols/Vlad potential than Walker, which he was compared to at the time of his drafting. Maybin on the other hand, to me feels alot like Joey Votto, he just has it. Good plate discipline, power potential and savy to play the game. Also a pure CF. May not have that huge ceiling like that was described at the time of his drafting(or he may) but he is just going to be a good player for a long time. Bruce has more a boom/bust feeling to him.
3.Lincecum: His pure stuff doesn't wow me like others, his fastballs have a tendency to jump off players bats a little to easy. Alot of that is due to his size, unlike Bailey, he is easier to read. Though, he has great offspeed pitches and is mature. His career timeframe may be short however. He will improve and put together good seasons if he stays healthy(like all pitchers).

Re: Aronchis...

All I have to say about a player (cameron Maybin) who has more infield hits, 18, than line drives hit, 16 (guys like Bruce and Upton have hit 43 and 31 line drives respectively), is that his prospect status and the numbers he puts up are very misleading. He may have all the potential in the world, but he cant hit line drives to save his life and puts the ball on the ground 61% of the time he actually does put it in play. He needs to show me something before he can be mentioned in the same breath as a guy like Jay Bruce in terms of prospect status.

Re: Aronchis...

Maybin IMO will be a very good leadoff hitter while Bruce is more of a 3 hitter, Bruce to me is more valuable.

Thanks for the good response.

You make this sound like a negative.

Re: Aronchis...

Wow... Jay Bruce has the potential to be the next Albert Pujols or Vlad Guerrero? Do other people actually believe this? Is he really that "once in a generation" type talent?

Re: Aronchis...

Guerrero and Pujols are only 4 years difference in age. So only one of them can be a "once in a generation" type talent. I'd take Pujols, (but then there's Arod.....)
