Re: Who do you want to be the next Reds manager?
Who's Jerry Narron? He once played baseball?
I thought he was a used car salesman or something that was hired on the cheap. Seriously, Narron is very knowledgeable, and I'm sure knows more than I do about the game, but I would like to have someone with proven success in managing at some level who was also a former catcher that was know for his defense and not his hitting.

Funny you mention him. During the game on Thursday they were talking about hitting coaches and Keith Hernandez said that Valentine really pushed hard to get Tom Robeson as his hitting coach.

Ken Macha in the mix for Reds manager?
Macha in the mix? The Reds have remained mum lately about potential candidates for the permanent manager's job. The names of Joe Girardi and Bob Brenly have come up most often, but former A's skipper Ken Macha is also keeping an eye on the developments in Cincinnati as well as the vacancies currently in Baltimore and Seattle.
"I want to manage again, absolutely," Macha said. "But you have to go through the process. I'd like to see what the possibilities would be in each specific situation." Macha, who has not yet been contacted by the Reds, had a 648-368 record in his four seasons at Oakland from 2003-06, with two playoff appearances. He was relieved of his job after last season. http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/news/...=.jsp&c_id=cin |

He's probably my choice at this point. Even though he didn't always embrace the Oakland philosophy, he had to learn some of those alternative approaches (which really aren't so alternative BTW).

This would make me unspeakably happy. Those are some good hands to leave the team in...my god, I could sleep at night.

A real manager at the helm?
Could RedsZone actually handle something like that? :

Re: Ken Macha in the mix for Reds manager?
Someone was a little quick on Baseball reference while writing their article today, Macha managed 648 games and won 368..
Still not bad for four seasons work
