New Baseball America Hot Sheet.......

Cueto is 8th, and Valaika makes the Not So Hot list.

I am rather surprised that Drew Stubbs is not on the list. The guy is on fire in July.

Yeah he is. I looked last night, and I believe he is hitting .405 in his last 10 games. Looks like he's finally catching on in a league he's a bit old for. I would like to see him bumped up and see if he can continue this recent success.

Drew is actually at the league average age of 22 years old.

There's a difference between a 22 year old top 10 draft pick and a 22 year old 42nd rounder.

Not everyone can give instant gratification. The guy is a level that he is the average age.

I would leave Stubbs where he is right now, seems that the light bulb has finally turned on for him. Somebody must be doing something right as far as instruction goes. Let him soak up some positives.

There's also a difference between a 22 year old pro who turned pro out of high school and a 22 year old who's been pro for a year and a few months.

That all depends...was the 22 year old who came out of HS a top 10 pick?

What does draft position matter?

I hate to play Semantics Nanny, but it's time to nip this in the bud. :

Dougdirt is right: "Old for the level" and "young for the level" are scouting terms, understood to be a comparison of the player's age to the league average age. That's it. That's all.

If you want to say that a collegiate top-ten pick should have advanced farther by now, say that. Say his development is struggling. Say he's not on the star track. Fine. But don't try to redefine the term "old for the level."

Re: New Baseball America Hot Sheet.......

I wonder if I'm old for the level of someone who should be posting on a fan website?

If I go up from here where is that?

If I go down from here where is that?
