Report: Braves Make Offer For Teixeira

FoxSports.com / RotoWorld.com -

Quote:
Sources told FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal that the Braves are offering Jarrod Saltalmacchia, Matt Harrison and Elvis Andrus to the Rangers for Mark Teixeira alone.

If that's the truth, why haven't the Rangers accepted it already? We wouldn't be surprised if the Rangers were floating this to try to get other teams to improve their offers. To get one of baseball's truly elite prospects and two more top-150 guys for a year and a third of Teixeira would be a fine deal for Texas.

Sign me up, if I'm Texas. Andrus could let them flip another IFer too for more top flight prospects, theoretically.

This added to that by MLBTradeRumors.com -

Quote:
The only other major player seems to be the Angels. The Halos recently tweaked their original offer of Casey Kotchman plus Nathan Haynes or Terry Evans. There's now a pitcher in the mix, apparently one of Ervin Santana, Joe Saunders, or Nick Adenhart. I'd consider this a comparable offer, especially if Adenhart was the one.

The Dodgers aren't out of it, but I don't see them getting Teixeira.

Re: Report: Braves Make Offer For Teixeira

I like the Braves offer and would think Texas has to do that.. but if the Angels are offering Kotchman, Evans, and Adenhart then I would be in one heck of a qwandry

I don't want to see the Reds trade Dunn, but I'd take either the proposed Braves or the Angels packages for him.

So would I, but the big difference is, Dunn is not under control for that extra year that Teixeira is.

It's a shame that Dunn was never really established at 1b.

Instead, he tried it in a limited manner and complained about it. I really think that hurts his trade value, and that's why Texeria is many teams' first choice.

On the bright side, once Texeria is dealt, the offers for Dunn might sweeten up.

Of course, the fact that Texeria is signed through 2008 (IIRC) is another plus. I could be wrong on that though.

Re: Report: Braves Make Offer For Teixeira

I don't want any of that crap for Dunn. Blech.

If I were Texas I'd keep Tex--they've got the money to hold onto him. And those deals don't really improve Texas in the long run or short run. If they're lucky they just save a bit of money in the short term to maybe break even talent-wise in the long.

Since it's the Braves, they should have to pay a premium in any deal. Make them overpay.

Just because.

The Braves are probably overpaying unless they are gonig to lock up Teixeira after 2008.

Teixeira's one of the best offensive players in the game, and the best offensive player on the market.

That Braves' offer is in no way overpaying, even if they only get prospects for him in the fall of 08.

Please don't get me wrong here, I like Teixeira and all.... but he plays in a bandbox in Arlington. His 3 year splits show a 60 point OPS advantage at home over the road. Like the author of the article said though, if this rumor is true, why havent the Rangers already accepted? Its a very good offer and likely to be the best they get. I think the Braves are overpaying a little bit. Not a whole lot, but a little bit? Yes.

The rumor I've heard through my Braves fan friend is that if the deal goes through, they'll lock up Teix and then let Andruw walk after the season.

Its an interesting thought, something that could happen. I don't think Atlanta has any intent on keeping Jones around past his current deal.

It could happen, but I wouldn't bet on it unless they're the highest bidder once he hits free agency. And Boras is taking him to free agency, I think that is something you could safely bet on.
