Which Reds players are arbitration eligible next year?
I'm thinking Belisle, Phillips, Majewski, and maybe Gosling. Any additions, subtractions? Either way, it doesn't seem like anyone is going to be getting a huge raise from arbitration.

Everyone gets a pretty good bump in arbitration.
Phillips will likely be in the $2.5M range. |

Also, Gosling showed he only had .092 service time coming into the year. Not that it matters, because I couldn't see him getting anything anyway. Phillips and possibly Belisle appear to me the only ones getting a significant raise that haven't already been signed. I show Saarloos has arb eligible. Is that right? |

Re: Which Reds players are arbitration eligible next year?
A group led by Robert Castellini purchased controlling interest (about 70 percent) in the Reds in November, 2005. (The purchase was based on an enterprise value of the team of about $270M.) Carl Lindner, who retains a minority ownership stake, bought the Reds in 1999 for $183M.

I was getting the experience off ESPN's website. It doesn't have service time but goes by experience. So I guess if someone spent a day in the majors, that would be one year's experience. Where are you getting your info?

No, but add in the raises for Arroyo and Harang which is over 5 million and Miltons money is already gone.

Just want to provide WoY's source for everybody: http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/200...i-reds_24.html
Very well organized, great info.

Re: Which Reds players are arbitration eligible next year?
This is what I'm seeing. It looks like there should be plenty of money to go around, even without a bump in payroll. A slight bump would be enough to retain all players under contract with raises to Phillips and Belisle ($5M? total) and a signing of a quality free agent.
Raises: Dunn +$2.5 M (I think he's at $10.5M this year) Harang +$2.5 M Freel +$1.3 M Gonzo +$1.125 M Stanton +$1 M Ross +$925 K Coffey +$570 K Weathers +$500 K Hatteberg +$350 K (if option is picked up) Castro +$50 K Valentin +$50 K (if option is picked up) Raises per arbitration: Phillips ? Belisle ? So far, that adds up to $10.870 M in raises + Phillips and Belisle. That's with picking up the options on Hatteberg and Valentin (doubtful for both). As for Arroyo, I show him at $3.8 M for 2007 and $3.95 M for 2008, before going to $9.5 M in 2009, so only see him getting a raise of $150 K for 2008. I'm sure this is wrong. Now coming off the books: Milton -$9 M Lohse - $4.2 M LaRue -$2.95 M Cormier -$2.25M Conine -$2M Saarloos -$1.2 M Moeller -$700 K total: -$21.6 M Please feel free to let me know of any errors I have made. |

So there is about $10 mil open if we don't raise the bar at all.
