Redszone Community Prospect Vote #23

Vote for the player who you think is the Reds #22 prospect (the best prospect who is not yet on the list). We will go with this as far as you guys want to take it.

I will post a new list every 2 days with 10-15 options to vote on.

If you feel like making an argument on why a guy should be voted here, feel free to vote and state why you voted for that player.

If there is someone that is not currently listed as an option to vote on, vote for 'other' then just state who you want to vote for in the thread.

If there is anyone you would like to see as an option on the next poll, just say so and if they garner enough support, they will be placed on the next poll. Guys with the lowest amount of votes will usually be removed for the next few guys who were talked about in the previous thread.

Player(s) who recieved 0 votes last round and will go back into rotation - Jose Castro, Zach Cozart, Rafael Gonzalez, Jordan Smith and Phil Valiquette.

Back onto the poll: Scott Carroll, Tzu-Kai Chui, Chris Heisey, Sean Henry, Paul Janish, Juan Rafael and Ramon Ramirez.

Re: Redszone Community Prospect Vote #23

If the Reds really have 22 better prospects than Dickerson and McBeth, they've truly exploded with the best depth in their long history.

I voted Turner again. He has put up good offensive numbers in his 1st two seasons and is a solid defensive player. He can play all infield positions and has even played some OF in Billings.

Gardner. Turner's success has only been at Low A ball, Gardner did great at both High A and AA last year.

Ramon Ramirez.

If the Reds are protecting a little RHPer, then he surely has game.

A 2.38 ERA and 1.20 WHIP at AAA last year should get Marcus McBeth voted in. He still needs to do it at the major league level, however.

Re: Redszone Community Prospect Vote #23

I think people might have gotten scared by McBeth's struggles in Cincinnati, that's about the only reason for him to have slipped this far. It's easier to be down on someone who has struggled than someone who hasn't yet had the chance. Considering that the odds say the majority of the prospects already picked ahead of him won't make it to the Majors, it seems odd to ignore the guy that actually has.

While his numbers looked bad in Cincinnati last year, they weren't nearly as bad as they looked at face value.

Yeah, I think he was pretty unlucky. I hope for better things from him in the future...but I still went with Dickerson.

I guess he's another bad luck victim. Lots of bad luck floating around last year. Unless you were Harang, Weathers, or Burton, they somehow had good luck.

Expected more from McBeth after the Deno trade. Was happy with McB as the return, he looked great on paper as an A's prospect. Still, he did pretty well at AAA, he may have a future.

Lecure was, I think, number 12 on BA's Reds list last year, he did well as a 23 year old at AA this year injuries and all, just don't see him falling this far. I expect the new BA list and other lists will have him in the top twenty.

I agree that Marcus McBeth has been underrated, though.

Small sample size for McBeth. He had a decent hit rate, solid walk and strikeout rates and kept the ball in the yard. He shows a 5.95 ERA, but his numbers are much better than that would suggest.

You never voted for Gardner

Re: Redszone Community Prospect Vote #23

I'll vote for Dickerson as soon as I see a recent scouting report that says his supposed lack of avg bat speed isn't going to be his death nail. I think if you don't have it as a baseball player you might as well not have arms. It may actually be worse than a pitcher with well below avg velocity. Other than that issue he is far and away better than anyone on the list at this point.

Ramirez interests me but I don't know quite enough to form an opinion.

I am encouraged by what I have heard about Lutz recently on his thread. But not enough to vote him over McBeth who was indeed unlucky, as unlucky as Weathers was lucky.

I still think he needs some polish but I think I would have voted for him sooner if not for Viola taking so long to get in. So McBeth it is for me.
