This is from John Fay:

I saw the NESN spring training schedule and the Reds are not on it this year. They are also not on ESPN's spring training schedule. I have not seen the YES schedule yet.

Well... I guess this means no RZ ST Gathering this year because all the TV games are on Mondays...:

Perhaps another team will show a game. I looked the other day but not much on there then as far as TV games go.

The Reds aren't going to be on ESPN during Spring Training... NO WAY!

I don't understand why FSN doesn't show them all. It would have to get better ratings than the mess that is usually on there.

I'd guess the money it would take to televise every game isn't worth it in their eyes, the junk they show instead is probably much cheaper and already produced

Re: Reds spring training TV schedule

ok..... here's what I don't understand... Is it so hard for a team like the Reds to think outside the box? Interest in the Reds will be high among baseball fans because of the winter break.

There are probably 10 colleges within 100 miles of Sarasota that have Media/Broadcast Journalism departments. Contact them, tell them you want them to produce daily reports about the Reds Spring Training including workouts and games.

They get full media credentials to include access to players and they agree to produce shows that will be provided to Reds at no cost to Reds. Reds can than market those shows to media outlets and or the internet.

Win/Win for all involved.

Thinking outside the box Part 2......

There are hundreds of webcams set up watching various items. Why not have webcams pointed to the 4 practice field home plates down at Sarasota? You could watch all the hitters taking BP. You couls watch the hitters during minor league ST games.

If Bud could find a way to make money from that, I bet he would. My guess is that he's afraid it would dilute the market for TV games.

This is a good idea. I disagree the later post that Bud would object. I believe you're talking only about Reds coverage, not national coverage.

The biggest obstacles are quality control and set-in-their-ways organizations worrying about taking the risk.

There may be others on as well on different Fox Sports affiliates (if you can pick them up), based on the other teams' schedules. I don't believe these are blacked out during ST...or at least not all of them.

Re: Reds spring training TV schedule

I can add some further good news, the Twins radio team is doing the games on 2/28 and 3/3, so likely those will be on XM.

http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/news/...=.jsp&c_id=min

ETA: No Rays radio on that game on the 29th, unfortunately.
