Sooo...Corey Patterson or Coco Crisp?

There was some speculation that we'd be pursuing Coco Crisp this offseason due to the apparent logjam in center in BOS. Of course, we ended up with Patterson instead.

Obviously we haven't seen enough of Patterson as a Red to make any sort of judgment about his performance here. So, based on what we all know about the past performances of both of these guys, which would you rather have?

I know I'll be in the minority here but I'd stick with Corey. He covers a lot of ground in center and seems to have a little more offensive capability. Crisp is a fine center fielder, a better defender but does not do a lot with the bat. Furthermore, I just have some strange feeling that Corey is going to have a nice season for us.

I would say Coco. He hits better, and gets better breaks on the baseball.

corey patterson just hit the reds first HR of the season. and opening day he had at least one pretty amazing catch i saw. but then again coco crisp has some pretty slick defense himself.

Crisp hands down... doesn't strike out as much, has better OBP (which is important for a lead off batter), and plays a little bit better defense... I think.

I would happily pay $2MM more for Crisp.

I was pretty skeptical about Patterson, but, opening day he looked really good in the field and stung the ball well (although he hit it at fielders). I was impressed. Add his game tonight and he is looking pretty good. It may be that he will finally live up to his potential...we can only hope!
