I'm glad there's no longer talk of tearing the place down.

Re: Dodger Stadium to get $500M makeover
I agree. As much as I hated the Dodgers growing up, Dodger Stadium is a great place to see a ballgame. Maybe in this era of HD, things are different, but Dodger Stadium is one of those places where I've felt TV never did it justice. It was just way more impressive when I first saw it in person.

My employer worked on the financing of this deal last summer, I guess the permits held up the announcement of it until now.

I was under the impression that public transit is seldom used in L.A.

In a few years when gas is 8 bucks a gallon they better have some public transit to the place if they want any fans to come see them.

Am I the only one here who think a half BILLION dollars should get you more than a "makeover"!! "What Not to Wear??"
![]() Maybe I'm just getting old? ![]() BTW, I've never been, and I'd love to see a game there someday. |

Re: Dodger Stadium to get $500M makeover
It's used more than people think. But regardless, I think that's kind of McCourt's point. There's a big movement to get it used more.

Eventually the extreme commutes become so expensive that the horse has no other choice but to drink.

Re: Dodger Stadium to get $500M makeover
Teams' reasons for supporting mass transit aren't entirely altruistic. The more that fans routinely commute to the stadium by mass transit, the less space that the club has to devote to parking spaces. Putting buildings where parking used to be increases revenue opportunities.
Also, since Federal money can be used for mass transit projects, putting in features to support mass transit can reduce the hit on local taxpayers.
