Re: Cardinals @ Reds: 6/10/08
It's certainly way too early to give up on Homer, but I've been a skeptic all along. Command is something that's tough to learn and Homer has never really had it.

I'm not making excuses for Homer, but they did ask him to change some things in his mechanics/delivery IIRC.

Neither command nor stuff. This is ugly.

Re: Cardinals @ Reds: 6/10/08
But supposedly his stuff at one point in time was great. And I don't doubt that. I've just never seen it. Now command, he's NEVER had it. And you can't succeed at the ML level without it.

I hate to say it, but I agree. This whole Homer thing is definitely confusing.

Re: Cardinals @ Reds: 6/10/08
Just don't understand this whole Bailey thing. He was getting hit hard at AAA. His K rate had declined down there, he had pitched several bad outings recently. Why did anyone think he would emerge against major leaguers?
I don't know what Walt was thinking, but this was kind of inevitable. Just don't get it. |
