Re: Any interest on a half season roto league?

Let's discuss categories.

I want to do something different than the standards.

Suggestions?

I personally would like to see a mix of standards and perhaps some sabermetric type of stuff.

Re: Any interest on a half season roto league?

Just suggestions, but what about...

Hitters
R, 2B, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, TB, OPS, XBH,

Pitchers
W, CG, SV, K, GIDP, TB, WHIP, K/9, IRA, QS

Now we could break down OPS into its two individual components instead if we wanted, we could add or change in some fielding stats as well.

I'm game for anything.

Two that I hate are K's for hitters and TB for pitchers. It gives guys that don't check their team an advantage, and usually hurts the good teams. That's just me personally.

I was trying to insert a 'reverse' scoring thing, something thats negative on each side.

From a traditionalist standpoint, I'd rather see BA than doubles, but I like the rest of the offensive categories.

For pitching, I would like to see either Runs Allowed Average or FIP average or ERA. I would take out GIDP. Also, I'd remove CG since it's become nearly obsolete. Then I'd add either something to do with walks or GB:FB ratio or something along those lines.

I recognize that, but more often than not the person that wins that category is just the one that checks their lineup the least and has guys playing that are on the disabled list.

Re: Any interest on a half season roto league?

If we don't get up to 10 teams by Sunday morning I will be backing out of this league. I will never play in a league that has less than 10 teams again. I've tried 2 and they are not fun.

Sorry.

33,

You've obviously never played in an NL-only league then.

NL-only leagues, especially with more than 8 teams, are actually challenging. I'd advise you to stick it out.

Even with 7 teams, it should be fun if that's what we end up with. The draft still set for 3:45 today?

Even NL only...the point of an NL only league is to make it really challenging. There are 16 teams in the NL, so with a 8 team league every person will have a starting player at every spot. In a 10 or 12 team league that is not the case.

I've vowed never to play in an 8 team league again and I am going to stick to it.

Sorry.

I've been in in NL-only league for 12 years. Since you've admittedly never been in one, you don't have a very good idea of the challenge involved, obviously.

I'm sure you've enjoyed mixed leagues of 14-16 teams right? Well cut that in half, and make it an NL-only, and you have the equivalent of 7-8 teams.

You're obviously free to do what you want. And I guess we shouldn't be begging you to stay in. But really man, it's pretty silly to duck out of a league because of the number of teams when you haven't even experienced that format before.

I would not have been able to stay for the whole live draft anyway. I hope you guys have a fun league.

Re: Any interest on a half season roto league?

Hey gang, sorry this came off so fast. I was at the Reds BoSox series this weekend and my hotel didn't have 'net access as promised.

Looking forward to getting going.

If anyone wants to change any categories, we still have a few hours before scoring kicks in tomorrow.
