That is an exceptionally good lineup.

July starts with a bang....I see this group putting up an 8 spot tonight, at least.

Seven shutout innings with 10+ K's would look awful nice from Volquez tonight.

Why does Keppinger sit today? Him, Hairston, and Phillips should always pkay vs. lefties.

This is what Dusty said about it from Trent. Sounds like it is going to be a rotating lineup for awhile:

Quote:
Jeff Keppinger gets the day off, Hairston starting at short.

"It's not a matter of rest as much as I went from not enough shrotstops to a lot of shortstops," Baker said. "I had a meeting with him and Jerry (Hairston) today and told them I'm going to try to find a way to play everybody, but not have anybody out more than a couple of days. We'd like to have him and Jerry both in there, we've probably got nine or 10 guys you'd play every day where before we were scuffling."

A little research on Zach Duke shows: this comment

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/...nSXDIYGL.FCLcF

Jun 30 LHP Zach Duke, who starts Tuesday night at Cincinnati, has been a consistent innings eater lately. He has pitched at least six innings in 10 of his last 12 starts and 12 of 16 starts this season.
Last five starts

Do you sit Junior again? Even after the walk-off? Do you sit Dunn? Do you sit EE? Do you sit Bruce? I'd rather Keppinger than Hairston, in a vacuum, but Hairston is "hot" and Keppinger is nursing a knee injury.

Bruce should probably be the odd man out on merit, but you won't see me complaining about the lineup tonight. More right than wrong.

*strolls into the gamethread carrying Klu's luggage*

Let's go for a 2-0 start to my gamethread career. :O)
Nice lineup besides my usual Phillips cleanup gripe.
