Random Thoughts

Jerry Hairston is the Corey Patterson Dusty Baker dreamed of.

Brandon Phillips is like the 66th best team in college basketball.

I'd like to see the stat that correlates veteran presence with wins.

How many presences does one team need?

Just keep telling yourself that Edinson Volquez is nothing like Jack Armstrong.

In at least one division, fourth place is still last place.

Re: Random Thoughts

I'm glad Felipe Lopez and Wily Mo Pena play for someone else.

I would take the current Austin Kearns over the current Griffey in RF.

I wonder what nicknames the players have for Dmitri Young's midriff.

I would prefer to see Edinson Volquez not pitch in the ASG.

The current Jeff Keppinger has very limited range in the field.

When I heard that Volquez had made the team, Jack Armstrong was my first thought, beats me why. Youth correlation I guess.

Just keep telling yourself Josh Hamilton is not the next Mickey Mantle in case Edinson Volquez is the next Jack Armstrong.

Re: Random Thoughts

This kid has an attitude, I don’t think such misfortune will happen to him.

See it in Volquez’s eyes or when he is chewing that gum on the mound, he has that "I am" and "I will" attitude of an athlete.

Armstrong looked to me like he belonged in a business suit when watching him pitch, this kid Volquez is a ball player.

Spring, you can't really be this old.....watched Armstrong pitch.....are you kidding me?

He is certainly a pitcher who is showing signs of NOT being a 30 start competitor at this point in his career. But I think that is to be expected.

It is going to be interesting (now that my best friend Corey is a nech player) to watch what happens to Volquez and Cueto come the end of August. Can they hold up?

Anyway, I think the point of your thread is a very good one. The field is certainly not a level one. However, it also shows that MAJOR league baseball consists of one 6 team division......the rest is all fodder (or the Minor leagues) from which, for a year or two apiece, a team is chosen to show up in the standings with the big boyz......it's your turn Rays, enjoy!

Hell me and Abner Doubleday invented the game, actually I did, and he stoled my ideas, and the rest is history, I have been forgotten ever since and took up eating cheesecake and strawberry pie and became a Buckeyes fan

I think BCubb is referring to BP being shut out of the ASG. In college basketball only 65 teams are selected to go to the March Madness. So, BP is the "66 team"... close but no cigar.

Capital idea. Cordero and Griffey for cash. That's the ticket!

Is there a metric for that? If there isn't, many on this board would claim it doesn't exist.
