And I am not surprised that it's popular in other countries because for what it is- a "light" lager- it is still a very good one, and it probably stands out as an alternative to European beers.

That doesn't mean I'm going to go out and buy a case; it may not be my preferred taste, but I don't think it's a poor product.
Budweiser came from a recipe and named after a Czech town called "Budweis". When deciding to come up with something uniquely original in the United States, they settled on this recipe after considering 100's of others. They were the very first to come up with a beer like this and 100's of other American companies tried following their lead after they became so successful. They were the first to introduce pasteurization to their beer, also, allowing them to also be the first to be able to transport their beer over great distances without it being ruined. They were also the first to introduce the "refrigerated train cart", which also assisted them into being able to transport their beer great distances.

A great American story.

...and when John Travolta was downing Budweiser at Mickey D's, there was not other beer to order at that time in the country. They had half the beer market in the United States for many, many decades.

Pardon the derail, but isn't this funny? I've come across several stats like this recently. Nobody's playing tennis, nobody's playing golf (really?), nobody's fishing, ski resorts are flat, regional airports are scraping their runways because people aren't flying.

Is it the boomer-wake? (Although you'd think that would boost fishing and golf).

Studies show that Americans now work more than they did at the dawn of the 20th century. And people go to church more than they did when the country was founded. Maybe between work, church and the internet, nobody has time for fun?

I've heard all that, too.

But, a lot of the beer drinkers have more wine and hard liquor choices than ever before. Strip joint sales are up and porn sales are wayyyyy up. Meth sales are wayyyyyyy up, too. You can't drink much beer when you're doing Meth.

And a lot more people just choose not to drink at all.

Cable TV. Video games. The internet. Non-digital entertainment has been replaced by the tubes.

The new Busch Stadium is probably the best-looking stadium in the U. S.
I'm with you on everything else except this.

The new Busch looks like a big pile of sand from the outside, and is bland and lifeless on the inside. And half the stadium gets a scenic view of the support girders under I-70.

GAB leaves it in the dust.

I've yet to make it to GABP (I know...some fan I am...) or the new Busch so I can only make a comment based upon how they look on TV. IMO, the new Busch looks FAR better on TV than does GABP. GABP may not look bland in person but it sure appears that way on a broadcast.

Hopefully I get to go to a game this season and have my mind changed.
