Perfect game alert....
Jeff Karstens is through 7 innings against the Diamondbacks with a perfect game.
He only has 85 or so pitches as well. 6 more outs to go... I am sure I just jinxed it, but oh well.

Karstens also picked up his first major league hit and now has 2 hits off Randy Johnson today.

Re: Perfect game alert....
Dang. A two out double in the 8th by Chris Young breaks up the perfect game and no-hitter.

As do I. Just think, if not for Carl Lindner, Young would be a Red right now.

As a selfish Griffey fan, I will say it doesn't bother me much.

He didn't get the perfect game or not hitter, but he did throw a complete game shutout.

Re: Perfect game alert....
His OBP isn't where it needs to be yet but he's got great power. Last season as a rookie he belted 32 homeruns and stole 27 bases while posting a .237/.295/.467 statline. This year he's at .234/.300/.422 with 15 homeruns. He's got tremendous power for a CFer but clearly his OBP skills are lacking right now, though he showed solid walk rates in the minors which leaves hope he can improve upon his walk totals. I'd love to have his power on this team.

Re: Perfect game alert....
Chris Young makes too many outs, but I would like to have his glove in center. He's a good athlete and still very young.

Re: Perfect game alert....
Corey Patterson doesn't have the power of Chris Young. And unlike Chris Young, Patterson had trouble drawing walks in the minor leagues. The fact that Young took walks in the minors leave hope that he'll eventually learn better plate discipline in the majors.
