Re: Reds vs D-Backs 9/12/08

Richar grounds out. 1-0 D-Backs after 7 1/2. Looks like another tough loss for Harang.

Re: Reds vs D-Backs 9/12/08

why would Baker not pinch run for Bako there? He was out there for 3 hitters, any of whom could have singled.

Votto/EdE/Bruce are due up in the 9th. Hopefully the bullpen can keep this a 1-0 game.

Dusty brings in the struggling Jared Burton to pitch the 8th. I guess Roenicke was brought up to be emergency guy in case a game goes into 35 innings.

And error number 3 on the night gives Salazar third base.

Jared Burton is clearly not healthy right now. I don't understand why they brought him back despite having expanded rosters.

Burton doesn't seem to have the same velocity or am I seeing things?

You're exactly right. A strained oblique can be rough on a pitcher. The best thing to do IMO would have been to shut him down (like you and I and others suggested) and let him rest up for spring training. He's clearly not at his best right now.

Burton walks the bases full with Dunn up.

They may as well send some of these callups back down....clearly they can't be upgrades...they're lacking experience.

Re: Reds vs D-Backs 9/12/08

I haven't read the whole game thread, and it may have already been mentioned, but Marty said he talked to one of the D-Back radio guys and asked them their opinion of Dunn. The response was, "walks a lot, strikes out a lot." Apparently, Dunn's going to face this wherever he goes.

He has experience and experience gets batters out. Duh.
