We're still doing this thing?

I was kinda hoping we would stop at 40 but it's up to you guys...In years past we've always stopped at 40.

Yeah, why not? We've got time to kill until the season starts. The numbers won't mean much, but it could result in some good discussion.

Well, this one's already started. We could do our '+1' prospect, and if it goes well, maybe we'll continue it, maybe we won't. Tentatively, I guess I'll say this is the last one I'll do.

I don't wanna ruin it for anyone else. If you guys wanna go to 50 then it's fine. I was just saying that we've always stopped at 40 and that's where I was planning on stopping.

40 is sufficient imo. The numbers are irrelevant at this point. For future reference, I don't think we should include this portion as an official representation of RedsZone. I'd just like to see what kind of discussion could come with the group of the lesser-known prospects.

Shunick is the man. Guys, he's gonna be good. He was just tired last year and I'm sure he did want to overdue it.

Logan Parker till he gets in. It says a lot about our minor league system that a prospect as good as Parker couldn't make the top 40.

I say the people that want to stop at 40 just drop out and let the rest continue.

Re: Who is RedsZone's #41 prospect?

The way I see it, there are still plenty of guys -- namely, Mace Thurman, Shea Snowden, Logan Parker, Ramon Geronimo and Aguido Gonzalez (and maybe Wilkin Castillo if anybody could tell me that he was a legitimate catcher) -- whom I'd still like to vote for.

Re: Who is RedsZone's #41 prospect?

Bankston looks to me like he's being overlooked. For comparison, 24 year old seasons: Parker, .281/.353/.494/.847 A and high A ball; Bankston .280/.328/.496/.824--AAA, two levels higher. Short stint at high A ball three years ago, at 21: .387/.513/.629/1.142. This is not meant as a knock on Parker, just a way of saying I think Bankston belongs. Just trying, too, to keep the conversation going here through a few more numbers.

Keep going until every prospect in the entire system is ranked.

I agree 100%. While he didn't fare so well in his cup of coffee: .203/.238/.305 in a mere 59 ab's. He's advanced and able enough to contribute to the major league roster (as a reserve, but solid). Bankston is only 25 years old and has averaged .279/.345/.470 over his minor league career with 112 homers over 2614 at bats. He doesn't have the upside of some that are left, but his floor is surely higher.

Re: Who is RedsZone's #41 prospect?

If we do a runoff (Cumberland and Thurman) I'd suggest just doing it for a day or maybe a day and a half.

Man, it would sure be nice if I could start voting for someone other than Mace. Shea Snowden needs me.

Meanwhile, the post about international Reds and WBC rosters is interesting (the heading is about Castillo). I didn't know anything about Luis Machuca, Luca Panerati or Matteo Pizziconi, but they sound worth watching, at least.
