BTW, Zack Cozart sprained his ankle a few days ago, so he won't be playing tonight.

The DSL Reds won 6-5. Junior Arias went 0-for-4 with a walk.

Re: Monday 7/13/09 minor league updates

Folks, Mace Thurman is ridiculous. Why is nobody touting this guy? (Actually, he was a main reason why I wanted the offseason Top Prospect list to extend beyond 40. It didn't seem complete without him.)

Frankly, I don't know what he's got. All I know is he's left-handed, he's 22, and after his 3.1 scoreless innings tonight, these are his numbers for two seasons of professional ball:

89 IP, 60 H, 102 K, 31 BB, 2.52 ERA

he has a lot of good breaking stuff, when I saw him he was throwing his fastball around 88-91, he kinda reminded me of Kent Merker

Thanks. Kinda sounds like a LOOGY -- although, with that kind of repertoire, I'm a little surprised he hasn't been tried as a starter. Maybe that's why he pitched 3.1 innings.
