No. College Seniors can still sign, as can guys who played independent league ball (Aaron Crow, Tanner Scheppers).

The Reds signed their 37th round draft pick, Dayne Read, CF, Chipola JC. He got a $250,000 signing bonus.

Nice find. Good to see them making the effort with a late round guy. Read also looks to have been a football recruit.

I don't know if the source regarding the signing bonus is credible, so I wouldn't take the word as gospel, but here's the link: http://hatdding.tistory.com/49

Re: 2009 Reds draft signings

It looks like Dayne Read was a catcher as well.

No one. If they haven't signed by now, they can't be signed. There are no college seniors who didn't sign.

Here's what was written in that extensive piece in this thread about our drafted players:

Dayne Read, OF, Chipola JC (FL), #1109 overall, 5’11’’/185: Read’s a JUCO freshman who stood more to gain from staying in close and not signing. He’ll be 21 in next year’s draft as a JUCO sophomore. DOB: 12/31/88. Commitment: None.

BTW, I'm reading that comment to mean the writer expected his stock would rise going back for his 2nd year, so perhaps this will prove to be a good signing, maybe similar to Sulbaren.

Article on Dayne Read signing...

According to the article, the Reds instructional league will be in Arizona this year, I might have to check that out, if possible

OTOH, if the economy had gone into another free fall in July, then all of these 1st rounders would have lost a lot of money. so there was risk.
My point is that if the Nats had offered this deal on the 4th of July Boras still would have said no and strung this out to last night. You disagree?

Doesn't an American League team get the #1 pick next year or am I wrong?
