Ellen Degeneres new judge on American Idol

Not a fan of the move the four judge system was awful last year. They should have hung with three and invited a guest judge in every so often.

Ellen guest judged So You Think You Can Dance and was awful. Lots of awkward jokes that felt out of place followed by praise of the contestant and no critique.

Interesting choice and seems a bit from left field. My first thought was "she'll be a hoot" and my second was "she knows nothing about music".

Have to see how it plays out. It won't be boring, that's for sure.

I've never understood vitriol such as this. If you don't like it don't watch it. Why should you care if someone else enjoys it? Personally, I hate the Office but I could care less whether it stays on TV.

Maybe because it's impossible to avoid hype about American Idol! It pervades so many other media. You can't listen to talk radio without hearing about it. You can't listen to music radio without hearing about it. You can't read newspapers or magazines without seeing references to it. You most definitely cannot avoid it online, no matter whether you read news sites, use social media like Facebook and Twitter or read message boards.

I don't watch it. I don't want to watch it. I don't care about it. But I can't avoid it! The only hope of avoiding it is for it to go away!
