That is the right way to lay that out. Nice work.
Thank you.

It's just a C&P from Cot's.

Sorry, this fool should have made the title Cordero and Hanigan for Upton, but I thought people would read the whole post before commenting. :

And I mentioned that I wasn't sure about how the money would play out, and offered the option of Masset instead of Cordero, if that was an issue. And remember that the reason why the Rays are interested in moving Upton is because he is due for a big raise this offseason. He should make at least $5M in arbitration next season.

They chose a Reds castoff as their closer, but that's not the point.

The point is there are a lot of pitchers who could close for the Reds for a lot less money. I hope they explore these options. When and if this team gets near to contending, then let's explore the high priced closer. Until then, Massett will do.
I understand your frustration with the deal. But I don't think you're doing Cordero justice to call him a "so-called elite closer." He's been very, very good for us, and this season he's been as close to elite as you can get without being Mo Rivera.

Nothing wrong with having CoCo on your team. Something big time wrong with having CoCo on your team with this payroll at that price.

That may be true but bad decisions have been made by the Reds that should be mitigated if possible.
