Alonso at 1B, Valiaka at 2B, Cozart at SS, Frazier at 3B, Francisco in LF, Heisey in CF and Dorn in RF. Maybe Francisco and Dorn switch since JF supposedly has a strong arm. Wilkin Castillo and Chris Denove are probably the catchers. Not too shabby with future major leaguers of varying projection all around. No retreads at least.

Re: Who is Redszone's #2 prospect?
Here's a quote from Terry Reynolds in July on Todd Frazier:
"Everybody can't play third base," Reynolds said. "We've got (Edwin Encarnacion), we've got these two. Everyone knows Frazier can play third. It will come down to who can help the Reds the most. The others will have to find other positions." http://www.baseballamerica.com/onlin...09/268594.html |

Re: Who is Redszone's #2 prospect?
BTW, want do you guys want to do when the polls are close? If two prospects are within five votes then have a runoff? More than five votes? Less than five votes?

OBM, what is a funoff? Personally I think 3 or fewer votes should be a runoff. 5 votes is enough to me to say that someone won.

Re: Who is Redszone's #2 prospect?
Yeah I personally like the most votes wins, but I'd be OK with a runoff if it's within 3.

There is a big difference between having the tools to play the position and actually being able to do so. Frazier came up as a SS and has very little experience at 3B. He may have all of the tools to play 3B but ultimately in order to be successful at the position he is going to need reps. He hasn't gotten them. Instead the Reds have opted to give Francisco the reps at 3B and move Frazier around the diamond, which IMHO has been a disservice to both. |

Unless, of course, Francisco works out defensively as a third baseman and Frazier can play multiple positions or second base effectively enough.

I think the Reds believe JF can be a good third baseman, in time, chiefly because of his arm. But he probably won't get the chance because he is still raw defensively, he only has two option years left, and his hitting has taken off. Reds probably have decided JF should move to left field where they can start getting offensive production from him sooner. |
