Re: Who is Redszone's #17 prospect?
I count 10 "other" votes but only 7 people mentioning Dorn, just a heads up. I am gonna vote Dorn so that will make 11 "other" votes.

Re: Who is Redszone's #17 prospect?
I hate to be troublesome, but since Dorn is very much a principal here (and even though I voted for Silva), maybe this poll ought to be restarted with his name available.

Silva... Not gonna waste a vote on Dorn seeing as how it's doubtful he's with the Reds to start the season.

Re: Who is Redszone's #17 prospect?
what about a .793 OPS in AAA for a corner OF is interesting? Not to mention his Dunn like OF defense. I'll take the cathedral ceiling of a Silva any day over the lean-to height of Dorn's promise at this point.

Re: Who is Redszone's #17 prospect?
Dorn's career .930 OPS against RHP and his line from June-End of the Season at AAA that was .324/.393/.551 over 250 plate appearances sound about right. Dorn got off to a slow start in April/May but he obliterated the baseball for the rest of the season to a tune slightly better than his minor league career before that point.

Re: Who is Redszone's #17 prospect?
He can also play LF. He got the reputation, but his numbers are average or better across the board. He's slow, I'll give you that. But his arm is sound, his routes are solid, and he makes the plays he's suposed to. Not only that, but he never throws he ball to the wrong base and he hits his cut-off men more often than most OFs I've seen.
I'm guessing most people who think he looks bad out there are comparing him to Heisey and Stubbs, two really, really good defensive players. Anyone would suffer by comparison.

Dorn it! How about some love for Donnie Joseph? He will be pitching in GABP this season. That should count for something.

Re: Who is Redszone's #17 prospect?
haha...maybe they should platoon and have a contest...floor: stays in AAA for 8 more years and retires...ceiling: platoon LF (only) for a few years (poor defense, marginal walk rate), maybe long enough to get his pension...that's a prospect? I think Silva and almost everyone else on this list have a chance to be quite a bit better than that. IMHO

Re: Who is Redszone's #17 prospect?
Viola + Del Rosario + Ondrusek (3 guys who WILL pitch out of the BP for the Reds, and perhaps well), 3 votes = Donnie Joseph, 3 votes (who might pitch out of the pen for the Reds)???
These rankings skew way too far toward the newly drafted.
