As well- the double standard comes from, you know, men hit a lot harder than women. And you really see a lot of men in clinics for being battered. Gosh, I must know a thousand people off the top off my head who sit in fear of their....wives.
Man, I don't even think I know a thousand people.

I agree that domestic violence isn't funny- I don't know if this would classify as domestic violence.

I doubt Tiger Woods is fearful for his life. I doubt he'll live in fear for his safety whatsoever.

The double standard here comes from the obvious:

While men do get abused, the damage caused by men against women is so much greater- soooo much greater.

I've read where domestic violence is the number one cause of injury for women aged 15-44. Not sure what the number one cause of injury for men is, but I'm guessing it's not getting beaten up by women.

So, you get a scenario where men beat women up much more than vice versa, add to that the fact men are much stronger, and I think people are justified in poking fun at a man getting beat up by a woman. Especially when they did what Tiger has allegedly done. They are able to laugh- it's like a David vs. Goliath thing: funny if the little guy wins, abuse if the big one does. And I totally get it.

Wow I thought "exceeded the shot limit" was just a joke.........

Porn star 'revealed as Tiger's ninth lover'

A Los Angeles porn star has become the latest woman linked to Tiger Woods as polls revealed the golf champ's popularity has plummeted since the scandal began.

Adult film star Holly Sampson, 36, was named in the New York Daily News as being another of Woods's alleged lovers, bringing to nine the number of potential mistresses now embroiled in the affair.

Sampson, a veteran of several pornographic films including Descent Into Bondage and The Diary Of A Horny Housewife, has not spoken publicly about her connection to Woods.

The report comes as a US poll showed the golfer's popularity has plunged by 24 percent in the wake of the scandal.

The CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll revealed only 60 percent of people viewed Woods as "favourable", down from 84 percent in June.

His "unfavourable" rating, meanwhile, has climbed from 9 percent to 25 percent over the same interval.

The popularity drop and increasingly lurid claims of infidelity pose the biggest threat so far to Woods's lucrative endorsement deals, which comprise some 90 percent of his income.

Meanwhile, gossip website TMZ reported Woods and his wife Elin Nordegren — who has remained silent throughout the scandal — met with a "mysterious suited man" at their home in Florida yesterday.

Woods, Nordegren and the man arrived in three separate cars for the meeting, which lasted two-and-a-half hours, the website reported.

The golfer's lawyer declined to comment to the website about the man's identity.

The marriage between Woods and Nordegren, a former Swedish model, has come under more scrutiny in the last 24 hours with one of Woods's alleged lovers claiming the relationship is a sham.

The woman, an unnamed cocktail waitress from Florida who claims to have had a two-year fling with Woods, claims the marriage is "only for publicity".

Another unnamed woman who Woods supposedly met at a club in New York has also been reported to be among his lovers.

Woods has yet to be seen in public since the furore erupted when he crashed his car on November 27 outside the Florida home where he lives with Nordegren and their two children.

After the crash, celebrity gossip websites speculated that Nordegren chased Woods with a golf club and smashed the rear windows of his vehicle, causing him to lose control.

Now TMZ is also reporting that Woods bombarded alleged lover Rachel Uchitel with text messages in the days after the crash saying he wanted to be with her.

Uchitel, the first woman publicly linked to Woods after being seen checking into Melbourne's Crown Towers, has reportedly been seeing Woods for two months.

The world's number one golfer ended his silence over the affair allegations last Wednesday.

"I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart," Woods said, but added he did not want to elaborate on his shortcomings in public.

"Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions," he said, attempting to draw a line under a scandal that has dented his squeaky clean image.

Keep in mind, that article is almost 5 years old now. A lot can change in that time. I have seen plenty of evidence to suggest it is closer to 50%.

The law in Ohio certainly would.

Quote:
(A) No person shall knowingly cause or attempt to cause physical harm to a family or household member.

(B) No person shall recklessly cause serious physical harm to a family or household member.

(C) No person, by threat of force, shall knowingly cause a family or household member to believe that the offender will cause imminent physical harm to the family or household member.
I don't imagine Florida's law is much different.

I think the greater point is that Tiger Woods is not an abused spouse.

He does not fear for his life.

If you want to say a woman hitting a man is the same as vice versa, then fine. Have at it.

Elin Woods is as bad as Chris Brown LOL...

Nope, I'm with you there. What he did was aggravated assault, at least as I see it.

Re: Tiger Woods in serious condition after car wreck

I'm sorry. I blame Elin as much as Tiger for this problem. Did she really think Tiger was going to be true to her as a professional athlete who travels the globe? Come on. . . be serious about this. I can't believe she's "shocked" or "dismayed" he cheated on her.

Every man is only faithful as faithful as their options.

I'd venture to say most of us guys here are ordinary guys who, if married, are true to their wives. I'm in a serious relationship right now and I wouldn't even think about cheating on her. But if I was some kind of professional athlete, especially to the standard as Tiger Woods, then I wouldn't even get married if you're going to sleep with that many women. As for Elin, it comes with the territory.

That's why Derek Jeter is a great man. The guy gets more women being single. Stay single as long as possible if you're going to cheat. It's as simple as that.

So you are okay if she knocked him upside the hide with a golf club? No problem?

I think I was referring more to the double standard with humor.

Perhaps if it is such a big issue and there is a case of domestic abuse, Tiger should file charges, dontcha think? Go after that woman with the golf club LOL.....

Not sure the broken home rules apply to billionaires, but this is a good point, albeit a bit dramatic.

Re: Tiger Woods in serious condition after car wreck

Well, I know the courts generally do not consider marital infidelity as a factor in custody debates for divorce with the belief that it doesn't affect their abilities as a parent. Once again I feel the need to point out that I'm not condoning what he's done. And I'd be making these same arguments even it were Arod who I can't stand. My only contention is that I don't think this makes him the great stan some are making him to be.

By that logic, anyone who's in a marriage that winds up in divorce (aka broken home) is a pathetic father. It's just not reality. Fact is, none of us really know the first thing about their marriage. It doesn't make his actions right, but in the real world things are rarely as they appear to be from the outside. People that want to make sweeping judgements about the entire character of a person based on the fact that they can't turn down sex with beautiful women, be my guest. I'm not going to.
