Re: Official 2010 Redszone NFL Mock Draft!
Team Selig left me a list since he would not be in town this weekend. He throws the first wrench into the draft early.
3. Sam Bradford, QB Oklahoma - Reasoning: Without being able to land a DT, they go for "BPA" and select their new franchise QB.

Re: Official 2010 Redszone NFL Mock Draft!
Tell ya what 33 since the Jets only have a 1st and 2nd and Chicago only has a 3rd go ahead and give me Chicago and I'll have 3 picks as well.
Sam Bradford? Didn't they just draft the kid from K-State in the 1st Round last year (and he looked pretty good)? Strange route to go for TB.

Re: Official 2010 Redszone NFL Mock Draft!
The Washington Redskins select with the 4th pick RUSSELL OKUNG, OT, OKLAHOMA STATE. Here is a writeup on him. Redskins had wanted Bradford and not sure if Clausen should be drafted with 4th pick so get help on the offensive line.
http://www.draftcountdown.com/sub/Mock-Draft-A.php The Chiefs have plenty of needs and could go in a number of different directions here but their offensive line play has been particularly troubling. In fact, Kansas City ranked among the worst in the league when it comes to sacks allowed. Oklahoma State’s Russell Okung isn’t an elite prospect in the mold of Tony Boselli, Jon Ogden or Orlando Pace but he has clearly emerged as the top offensive tackle in this class and will likely be a Top 10 pick. With good size, long arms, great strength, above-average athleticism and feet as well as top-notch intangibles, Okung is just a very good all-around blocker. Okung could slide into the starting lineup at either left or right tackle for the Chiefs and any investment in keeping franchise quarterback Matt Cassel upright is money well spent. As I mentioned the Chiefs have a lot of holes to fill, which certainly isn’t a good thing but it does give them a lot of options on Draft Day. Other possibilities could include Tennessee’s Eric Berry, who would be a huge upgrade at safety, or Alabama’s Rolando McClain, who could be the stud that they need to build their linebacking corps around. Don’t be surprised if they take a look at Oklahoma State’s Dez Bryant either because outside of Dwayne Bowe, who has been a frequent inhabitant of Todd Haley’s doghouse, they have little or nothing at the wide receiver position. However, the Chiefs have to find a way to move the ball and score points and the best way to do that is upgrade the o - line. Last edited by Gallen5862; 03-05-2010 at 06:02 PM. |

Re: Official 2010 Redszone NFL Mock Draft!
And, the first Offensive Tackle is gone.
Like your write-up says, if KC didn't take him, then Seattle surely would have. That also leaves Jimmy Clausen to the Seahawks, as KC already has their franchise quarterback in Cassell (they're paying him like one). Last edited by Kingspoint; 03-05-2010 at 06:36 PM. |

Re: Official 2010 Redszone NFL Mock Draft!
I am willing to also draft for the Panthers. They are my Second favorite team after the Redskins. ESPN News reported this trade which effects our mock draft.
Arizona trades WR Anquan Boldin and a 2010 fifth-round pick to Baltimore for Ravens 2010 third- and fourth-round picks. |

I'll edit my reasons for my pick after KC picks, but the Seahawks are going to be taking QB Jimmy Clausen.

Re: Official 2010 Redszone NFL Mock Draft!
With WR Brandon Marshall arriving in Seattle tomorrow, it's likely that he doesn't leave without a contract. Paul Allen gets what he wants. You don't bring Brandon Marshall in so that the team can win in 2010. It's about the future.
The signing of Marshall may cost the Seahawks a 1st Round pick. Whether that's the #6 pick and all of the cost that goes with the #6 pick or the #14 pick, a pick much more affordable for the Broncos, or even a 2nd Round pick combined with something else, is yet to be determined. But, if the Seahawks have to give up a 1st Round pick, then they won't be taking QB Jimmy Clausen because they HAVE to have a Left Tackle from this 1st Round. LT Okung would have been a no-brainer, but he's gone. The Seahawks could wait and get USC's LT Charles Brown with their 2nd Round pick (the most likely scenario, and if the Seahawks need to trade up 10 picks to get him then they will). So, because I think the Seahawks will use their 2nd Round pick on a LT, USC's Charles Brown, the Seahawks and Pete Carroll are going to use the #6 pick to get the team their new franchise Quarterback, Notre Dame's Jimmy Clausen. Didn’t step up clutch in close games last year, but still had a hell of a statistical year for a mere junior throwing 28 touchdowns to 4 picks and averaging 8.8 YPA out of a pro style offense. It’s safe to say that while he lost a lot of close games, all 6 of his losses were by a touchdown or less, Notre Dame would have gotten destroyed without him. He played his best in big games and got absolutely no help from his defense. He has experience playing behind a poor offensively line, which he’ll likely have to do in the NFL if he goes top 5 as he’s projected, and he played most of last season through an injured foot, showing his toughness. He’s the top quarterback prospect in this draft class and gets a 98 rating. For the record, Matt Stafford got a 97 last year. |
