Netflix Instant Streaming Recommendations Thread

More and more over the last few weeks my wife and I have been watching movies/shows from the Netflix instant streaming catalog. A lot of times we try to find a movie or show that we probably wouldn't have watched other wise. Sometimes it's a little hard to find something good sifting through a lot of the not so good movies.

I figured we could use this thread in a similar way we use the "Most recent movie I've watched" thread but with just Netflix instant streaming selections.

If the mods feel it's redundant then that's fine, we can use the other thread.

For a well known movie I suggest watching/re-watching Stepbrothers. A lot of people didn't like this one, but I think it's one the best Will Ferrell movies or maybe just the most quotable.

For a not so well known movie, we watched Primer last night. It's an interesting take on time travel. My wife didn't make it to the end, but I liked it. I had to rewind it a couple times to wrap my head around everything though.

Re: Netflix Instant Streaming Recommendations Thread

I'd like to know how many times I've watched all or part of The Big Lebowski via netflix streaming.

- All 3 seasons of Arrested Development
- They also just added v. 1, 2, and 3 of Beavis and Butthead The Mike Judge Collection.
- Both Trailer Park Boys movies

"Coupling" is a great British sit-com. Kinda like their "Friends" but much edgier, sexier (PG-13 still) and much funnier. They tried an American version, but it was terrible.

If you liked Faulty Towers, and the British "Office", you'll love "Coupling". Just make sure to watch the British one.

I watched Primer last night and definitely think I need another viewing to even begin to grasp what I watched.

I think TV shows are where the instant streaming Netflix thing really shines.

Lost
Arrested Development
Weeds
Dexter
Dead Like Me

At some point, The Wire and Battlestar Gallactica will be available through by streaming.

Crank Yankers was just added recently

My 13 year-old just discovered Roswell.

My 18 year old loved Koyanisqaatsi. He wrote a college application essay about it. The essay not only got him accepted, but resulted in a personal reply from the chair of the department at a school he was applying to.

Mrs. U liked The L Word.

Re: Netflix Instant Streaming Recommendations Thread

Last week when home for lunch, I decided to watch an episode of Rocky & Bullwinkle since I only had a little bit of time. Very campy funny cartoon series. I always liked the humor of that show.

My wife and I can quote all four seasons from memory. The original BBC version of Coupling is my all-time favorite television series.
