Bill Bray

Has there been any word when he could possibly start pitching again? I know it's been close to a year since he had TJ surgery. You'd think he'd be close to getting some rehab assignments.

Re: Bill Bray

Can we put him on the 60 day DL at least to free up a spot on the 40 man?

Dickerson's already on the 60 day DL. I don't think you can have more than a couple on it.

There's no limit to how many players you can put on the 60-day DL, but you can't put someone on the 60-day DL unless the 40-man roster is full.

In other words, the answer to redsfandan's question is 'yes'.

I believe it has something to do with him being in the minor leagues and putting him on the 60 day DL adds to his major leageu service time.

Re: Bill Bray

Interesting that all three of the pitchers we acquired in that trade have/had serious injury problems. Probably yet another example of JimBo's shadiness.

Yeah I thought so too. But keeping him on the 40 for months and months when there's no chance that he'll pitch anytime soon complicates things. He's a reliever. I'm not saying that he should've been on it ALL this time but if the Reds need a spot will putting him on the 60 day DL now make THAT much of a difference in the long run.

Pretty good guess. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if he's done. You can only blow your arm out and have surgery so many times. This guy has been a walking injury report since the Reds traded for him four years ago.

Re: Bill Bray

Rotoworld had an update on him back on May 9th. Nothing after that though.

Bill Bray threw a simulated game earlier this week as he begins working back from the Tommy John surgery he had last May.

Bray felt fine after the sim game, which is a good sign. The Reds are hoping to have him back in six to eight weeks barring any setbacks in the rehab process.

This is what I was thinking.

I'm pretty confident you'll never see him pitch in a Reds uniform again

So, hopefully he can start his rehab assignment this month.
