Yep, not sure if it was talent or philosophy but Carbone didnt let anyone really pitch more than an inning or two the few times I got to watch the team. It was like an entire game of relief pitching.

Oakland takes their manager Bob Geren's kid.

The Blue Jays take right-hander David Whitehead out of Moeller! I assume he's going to college somewhere. (Edit: Yes, Elon University in NC.)

If you ultimately make the majors as a Utility player, you're still making $300K+.

Well, sure- but how many times do you see that listed on your draft profile? Not too many.

I understand and I guess it beats putting down "undecided".

The Angels select a guy listed as being from "no school". It would be infinitely more fun if they just said "parts unknown".

Technically Sam Lecure got this listing when he was drafted because I think he dropped out of UT beforehand.

I have seen a few guys listed that way. Most likely try out kids who impressed.

Leonard was 2-7 with a 4.97 ERA as the Mustangs' Friday starter. The team had a 6.75 ERA, however, so 4.97 is better than it looks.

Former MLB LHP and Cy Young award winner Mark Davis' son Logan goes to Colorado in round 38. He's a shortstop out of an Arizona HS.

They won't have room to play all of these guys in the minors:
Interesting that they're trying to make a catcher of a corner infielder from Miami-Dade. Mike Piazza played first base for Miami-Dade when he was drafted. They brought him to Dodger Stadium, had him squat behind the plate and throw a few to second, declared him a catcher--actually, Lasorda declared him a catcher--and made him an offer.

I remember how Piazza was drafted in the 62nd round solely as a favor to Lasorda (since Piazza was his godson).
