Laptop Issue
I have a compaq Presario V6000, a couple of years old. When I turn it on, the blue lights come on, the fan acts like it wants to start and then it shuts off, only to come back on and shut off again. Nothing comes up on the screen.
Any thoughts?

If it is plugged in, then power supply or motherboard. Either way, sounds like a new laptop is in your future.

I turned on my laptop today to be greeted by a high pitched whining sound coming from the fan. The support rep went through a bunch of steps, reinstall the bios, check this, check that, yada yada yada...
Fresh out of ideas, he took a shot in the dark, "Maybe try cleaning out the vents?" Worked like a charm.  :
