Sad news for the buckeye community.
I saw him on the side lines either last year or the year before and he looked like a homeless man. I wondered if all those hard hits had left an impact. |

Physically Jack Tatum was a mess. The diabetes absolutely destroyed him. I saw him a couple of years ago, outside the Buckeye Hall of Fame Cafe, and he looked very sickly. He had a leg amputated, and I believe he was missing all the toes on the remaining foot.

While I don't know how, I wouldn't be surprised if his football career contributed to his long-term health however indirectly. Makes players that retire early, like Barry Sanders, look smart in my eyes.
