Me too. Now if the rain has ever stopped, we need the Marlins to wear out the Cards pen and hang a L on them.

We've won 7 of 8, 4 in a row, and had a 5-1 roadtrip.

just went back through the thread... Did nobody notice Soriano posing big-time on the ball that Gomes caught at the track?

Yeah. Wouldn't mind a nice 18-inning bullpen killer -maybe with a couple more rain delays thrown in.

I know some were upset that we didn't sweep the Pirates...but I'd MUCH rather sweep the Cubs instead! :O) WooHoo! 2 games up!

Great game. Always good to beat the Cubs. Now we have to hope that the game in Florida is rained out (giving us a 2-game lead or the Fish win for a 2.5 game lead). Take 2 of 3 from St.Louis and come out of it 3+ games up. The we can really scoreboard watch .

But if Fisher goes a couple today and they need the pen a lot tomorrow they have guys ready in AAA who may be better than a couple on the roster now anyway.
That's a reasonable thought. My only problem with this line of thinking is it could essentially be extended so that Wood doesn't throw more than 70 or 60 or 50 pitches in any start.

It's one thing to worry about pitch counts when a guy is struggling with command and has thrown 90 to 100 pitches. Wood went into the 7th having thrown 58 pitches. If you don't pull him there, than I fail to see why you pull him after 4 batters and maybe 12 pitches. At least based on pitch counts by themselves.

He was getting lit up which is the reason I had no problem with him being pulled, but lets not act like sending a guy out with fewer than 60 pitches is going to kill his arm in October.

A couple other things about Wood today. It was his first time facing a team for a second time and he was pretty darned good. That is a great sign. Its also the second time he's taken a no-no fairly deep into a game and looked completely composed after losing it. That composure is enough for me to raise my expectations for him. Kid's gonna be a good pitcher I think. Gotta keep him healthy.
