Really enjoy the UFC video games.

Anderson Silva is my boy. Bad dude.

Re: No UFC fans here?

They had me from hello. I loved the mortal kombat version of the UFC back when it was virtually no holds barred. But I stuck with it most all the way thru (didn't follow it for a while there thru the early middle of Coutures years) but since Dana has taken over I have tried to at the very least follow the results and at times watch some shows. Have watched all the TUF series.

Problem is I am such a Reds (obviously especially this), Bengals/Buckeyes fanatic I can't afford to squeeze anything else in very much.

Re: No UFC fans here?

Anyone see UFC 118? I didn't get a chance to watch it but here are the results.

Frankie Edgar d. BJ Penn
- per FightHype Edgar dominates the fight. BJ still tried going for power punches and landing nothing more than a 2 punch combo. Edgar got some easy take downs as well.

Randy Couture d. James Toney
- Easy take down right off the bat, mount, GNP, and then arm triangle submission.

Gray Maynard d. Kenny Florian unanimous decision

Demian Maia d. Mario Miranda unanimous decision

Nate Diaz d. Marcus Davis via submission round 3

Joe Lauzon d. Gabe Ruediger via submission (arm bar) round 1

Nik Lentz d. Andre Winner unanimous decision

Dan Miller d. John Salter submission (guillotine) round 2

Greg Soto def. Nick Osipczak via Unanimous Decision

Mike Pierce def. Amilcar Alves via Submission (armbar) in round 3

Re: No UFC fans here?

I watched the fight last night. Toney was pathetic but I guess that was expected. As far as BJ Penn I was absolutely stunned by how dominated he was. Edgar made Penn look very average.

Florian had a bad showing. I much preferred 117 to 118.

Toney reminded me of the type of fighters Elite XC would bring in to face Kimbo.

Re: No UFC fans here?

Pretty good night of fights. Unfortunately the next two aren't going to be as great, with headliners Mir/Cro Cop and Akiyama/Bisping. Then you get a great card with Lesnar/Velasquez and Shields/Kampmann, but then 122 was just announced with the headliner being Belfort/Okami.

I was pretty sure he would get dominated but that was a WEAK takedown. How do you not learn how to defend it at least a little bit.

Except one of those fighters that Kimbo submitted(!) was boxer Ray Mercer, a guy who took a second MMA fight and knocked out former UFC Champ Tim Sylvia in 9 seconds, which probably is something that gave Toney the confidence to come do this. Glad Dana said afterward that that experiment was over.

It was an ankle pick, no way Toney saw that coming, especially considering Couture is from a Greco-Roman background rather than freestyle. It looked weak but I bet Couture takes down a bunch of guys with that, it was so out of the blue. But yeah, Toney wasn't stopping any shot last night, I think everyone knew that going in. Funny about CTA mentioning that Toney, who is a very accomplished boxer, being someone Elite would bring in for Kimbo - Kimbo is boxing full-time now. Gary Shaw just can't let his cash cow go, so Kimbo to boxing... perhaps he and Toney could hook it up where no ground work is required. Hah.

I guess Gray Maynard, didn't see that one coming. I like Maynard and all but just saw KenFlo easily as a notch above.

Re: No UFC fans here?

A guy I went to high school with is fighting in UFC 124. Sean McCorkle. When he started I really didn't think he'd make it, but he has really slimmed down.

The guy is a ridiculous athlete. In high school he could drop step-dunk on people at nearly 300LBs. You just wouldn't have thought he could get off the ground like that at his size.
