Bloop single to gomes. 1st & 3rd.

Gomes was standing where the coaches told him to. They were adjusting them all during that ab. Infielders too.

When you have no ability to go back on the ball....

Though with sluggers like Howard, they rarely flare them out to left. Probably a smart play.
