AFL Starts tonight

The Reds team plays a night game at 9:30 EDT. They act like Gameday will be available for it.

Hey guys. Don't know too much about MiLB. What's the talent level in the AFL?

2-RUN Homer for Mesoraco!

Re: AFL Starts tonight

Mesoraco hits an opposite field 2-run HR in his first atbat! Wow.

It's a mixed bag, 320. Some AAA guys, a lot of AA guys, and some lower level prospects. It's a good amount of talent, but all over the map.

Re: AFL Starts tonight

Cool. Mesoraco (sp?) I've heard a lot about. Is Kris Negron any good?

Re: AFL Starts tonight

If you add that homer in with his regular season, Mesoraco now has 27 HR in 398 atbats this season.

Re: AFL Starts tonight

Only one player below AA is allowed, but there's a mix of really good prospects (Mesoraco) and space fillers (Avery)

Re: AFL Starts tonight

320, Negron was the shortstop at AA this year, and played well. Not a super prospect, by any stretch, but good eye, good speed, good defense, good makeup.

Re: AFL Starts tonight

There will be some pitch F/X data available. Two of the stadiums have it installed and like years past, will be running for the games.

Re: AFL Starts tonight

Mesoraco is 2-for-3 with a HR and 3 RBI. He's driven in all three runs for Peoria.

Mes finished up 3-4 with the 3 RBIs. He's kinda good.

Negron went 0-3 with 2 Ks.

Dave Sappelt got into the game for a couple ABs but went 0-2 with 2 Ks as well, including one to end the game with the tying run on 3rd.

Re: AFL Starts tonight

Nice little start by Mesoraco. At first I was thinking the Reds should give him some rest after such a great season, but might as well let him continue his tear!
