What Jason Werth is expecting...

"...Negotiations are expected to heat up at next week's winter meetings, but most clubs believe Werth won't sign for another two to four weeks, and possibly longer if the asking price remains at six to seven years, at close to $20 million a year..."

Not worth it, IMO. 10-12mil/year, sure...but not 20.

He is not worth it, and I sure hope that we don't sign him.

Id like him in LF for 10-12mil/year for 4-5 years. I think it'd be a nice boost.

Re: What Jason Werth is expecting...

Jason Bay signed last year for 4yr/66 million and, if you look at the previous 4 seasons prior to his free agent year, he is very similar to Werth at the same age. Adam Dunn's offensive last 4 seasons are similar as well. I know Werth's defense is better than Dunn as well. Based on those two comparisons, Werth should expect about 4yr/60 million, IMO. He's only had last season .900+ OPS and to expect 20+ million per a player should be .900 -1.000 OPS year in and year out (see Texiera, ARod, Manny (in the 2000s)etc.)

IF that's the case, Crawford should get $35 - $40M a year. I don't think there's any way Werth gets that.

Well, let me rephrase...he's not WORTH that. I guess it would shock me if some dumb owner steped up and paid it. It only takes one.

Let's not forget that he's going to be 32 for most of next season. Big guys get old faster.

35-40 Million PER YEAR?

I don't think so. Its reported that Crawford is looking for 15 Million per year. Power is a different commodity. Worth more $

Crawford, too, is expected to command about $15 million a year for between five and seven years, a deal the Yankees seemed reluctant to make at the end of their season.
