My prayers are with Bob Feller. He was a hero of mine. He was striking out batters when strikeouts by batters were not cool. Look at his era compared to Nolan Ryan's. Batters just did not strikeout as often back when Rapid Robert was mowing them down.

Like me, an Iowa guy. "The heater from Van Meter" was his local nickname. One of the great stories of very small town midwest guys making it big. An easy guy to cheer for.
