Fish Lives. RIP Dietrich

http://www.tmz.com/2010/12/20/forget...-barney-miller

Steve Landesberg -- famous for his roles on "Barney Miller" and more recently "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" -- has died ... this according to the actor's agent who spoke with TMZ.

Barney Miller was and is one of my favorite shows of all time. His portrayal of Dietrich was one of the cast of characters on that show that made it great. R.I.P Steve Landesburg.

Yet, Abe Vigoda continues to defy modern medical science.

Wow, he was only 65? That means he was only 37 when "Barney Miller" went off the air. Thought he was older.

I saw him perform standup at JMU back in the late '80s. He opened for Lou Rawls.

RIP, Dietrich.

"Barney Miller" is an all-time favorite. Frustratingly slow release on DVD; the latter years, when Landesberg joined and the show really took off for me are not available yet.

Good obit if you scroll down a bit at:

Which by the way is one of my favorite websites.

According to the NY Times obit, he was 74.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/21/ar...ref=obituaries

From the obit:

Initial reports of Mr. Landesberg’s death, relying on numerous biographical sources, said he was 65. In acknowledging that he was actually nine years older, his daughter said he had provided varying birth dates over the years. “He got kind of a late start in show business,” she explained, “so he tried to straddle the generations. He fooled the whole world. People were surprised to think he was even 65.”

OK, I'm not seeing any mention of his Natural Light commercials which ran for quite a while. Am I thinking of someone else or is this piece just not showing up in any of his obits? Thanks.

I really can't stand the new IMDB format.

RIP, Dietrich.

Outstanding character in and outstanding sitcom.
