Tracked it down, the BA listing shows he played for independent Sioux Falls last season. According to The Baseball Cube, that would be the one and the same. It was his second year in independent ball.

According to MLB Trade Rumors:

I can't remember who he was with but I do remember him as being an Ace starter in the midwest low A league around 2007 or 2008.

Jackson had big league time with the Pirates. Neither should get a shot this year, just filling spaces.

Jackson's history is interesting to me. He came up in the Arizona organization and had a terrific season in 2006 (obviously a long time ago) as a starter in AA (24 years old): 149.2/1.176 WHIP/2.65 ERA/2.78 K to W/.4 HR per 9. Then it looks like he got dealt to the Yankee organization and his career declined, and it actually looks like he was more effective as a starter than as a reliever. He never came anywhere near that 24 year old season again. I wonder A. if Price knows something about him from Ariz. days and B. if they might try to change him back to starting.
