Re: Official 2011 Redszone NFL Mock Draft thread ...

Following with another Mountaineer, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Robert Sands, safety from WVU.

Sands would likely be the tallest safety in the league at 6'5 and could even see time at LB. For a Jaguars team that is looking to add on defense, Sands is a pretty solid pick.

I really like this kid for the Bengals, I think he will ultimately be a 5th rounder though. I'm hoping he would fall even to our early 6th but I doubt that. Heck maybe a cover 2 team might draft as a LB, he'd need some development in the bulk dept. but he maybe could eventually do it.

I like his size more than anything, seen some mocks that have him in the 4th round. I just wonder how a 6'5 220 lbs safety would hold up in the league, given most of the taller ones are 6'2.

Re: Official 2011 Redszone NFL Mock Draft thread ...

With the 18th pick of the 4th Round, the San Francisco 49er's select DE Greg Romeus of Pittsburgh.

Needing a complimentary bookend to Pro Bowler Justin Smith, Romeus offers 1st Round talent who could fall to Day 3 due to an injury-plagued Senior season.

Ideal combination of size, strength and speed (6', 6"; 270)
Explosive speed rusher with a dash of power
Possesses long arms - gets his hands on passes
Moves well laterally
Uses hands to shed blocks well
Big-East Defensive Player-of-the-Year in 2009
Big-East Defensive Co-Player of the Year in 2010
Named to three All-America teams in 2010.

Won't be able to work out until Summer after a torn ACL and surgery for a herniated disc early last Fall.

The 49er's are playing a Nose Tackle at LDE right now, so adding a rush specialist there is a no-brainer. The 49er's run a 3-4, and Romeus could end up being a rush specialist for them, eventually working into a full-time starter.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/6...the-buccaneers

The San Francisco 49er's picks, thus far:

1.7.. San Francisco - Patrick Peterson, Cornerback, Louisiana State University
2.13. San Francisco - Colin Kaepernick, Quarterback, University of Nevada
3.12. San Francisco - James Carpenter, Offensive Tackle, University of Alabama
4.11. San Francisco - Roy Helu, Runningback, University of Nebraska
4.18. San Francisco - Greg Romeus, Defensive End, University of Pittsburgh

Nice Pick KP, Romeus could be an eventual impact DE.

TheBigLewbowski hasn't been on in 2 days so I figure he ought to be due. I expect he should be on by morning. I sent him a PM.

With the 19th pick in the 4th round, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Jeremy Beal, LB/DE, Oklahoma. Stock dropped after a bad combine but was previously thought to be a 2nd round talent. TB will probably use him at OLB.

The Kansas City Chiefs, looking for depth at QB, select Greg McElroy (QB-Alabama)

McElroy's concern is his size at 6'0, but he has had a prolific career at Alabama and scored extremely high on the Wonderlic. Could be a potential Tom Brady type of project for the Chiefs.

KC Draft Picks:
1.Phil Taylor (DT-Baylor)
2.Rodney Hudson (C-Florida State)
3.Kelvin Sheppard (MLB-LSU)
4.Greg McElroy (QB-Alabama)

With their 4th-round pick, Indianapolis selects:

DT Jerrell Powe, Ole Miss

The Colts decade-long search for a big run-stuffer inside continues...
