4/19 Dbacks v Reds

Tuesday 4/19, 7:10 PM ET at Great American Ball Park

Cincinnati (9-7)

Stubbs CF
Phillips 2B
Votto 1B
Rolen 3B
Bruce RF
Gomes LF
Hanigan C
Janish SS
Lecure RHP (0-0 , 2.25)

Arizona (6-8)

Johnson 2B
*Roberts 3B
Upton RF
Drew SS
Young CF
Montero C
Parra LF
Miranda 1B
Galarraga RHP (2-0 , 6.75)

Notes:
  • Entering play this evening the Reds hold a slim one game lead over 4 NL central opponents.
  • Phillips returns to the Redlegs lineup after missing 4 games, Brandon is batting .354 with a .407 on-base percentage in his first 12 games.
  • Galarraga (yes, the old tiger) has a 6.75 ERA this season.
  • In 25 career games against the Cincinnati Reds, Stephen Drew is 22-for-95 (.232). He has been even worse at Great American Ballpark, hitting just .188 in 48 career at-bats.
  • Cincinnati sports a 6-3 record for night games, while going just 3-4 during the afternoon.
  • Lecure has a 2.45 ERA in two starts, and yielded one run and one hit over six innings last Tuesday, retiring the final 12 batters he faced.
  • At GABP you would expect a high scoring series, perhaps record numbers.. the Reds pitching staff has been shaky, at best, and Arizona - Offense has not been a problem for the Diamondbacks, who are in or near the top five in the majors in batting average (.277) and slugging percentage (.437). The problem has been their NL-worst 5.55 staff ERA. Arizona's starters have the worst ERA in the majors at 6.00.

Not sure what it is like in Cincy, but we are getting hammered here in Indy with really bad weather which I gotta think may head cincy way...not sure if playing BP tonight in what might be poor conditions is a good idea. Also, why can't Dusty think outside the box just once and maybe try Hanigan in the 2 spot and see what happens...

I'm so far away from Cincy I didn't even know they were calling for rain.. and yeah, where to bat the catcher in our lineup is a constant.. discussion.. last year I remember talk of letting Hanigan lead off because of our lack of production from that slot..

A warm front over our area is supposed to hold off the bulk of the rain/storms from about now (4:40 as of this writing) until early Wed morning (Midnight/1 am) -- but, don't count anything out. Scattered storms are predicted, at least...but there has been no delay announced, as of yet.

I'm smack in the middle of 'Nati...and the sun is out.

A flood watch is currently out, though...so...what do I know?

Probably because Phillips is the better base runner.

Gameday has Ryan Roberts playing third for the Snakes instead of Melvin Mora.

To heck with this weather. I am still out on the patio BBQ'ing, drinking some beverages and listening on the radio for the time being. GO REDS!
