Chris Carpenter
A quote from stltoday.com/
Some things never change: A poorly conditioned mound bothered Chris Carpenter in the first inning. Lingering smoke from fireworks celebrating Ramon Hernandez' home run irritated him in the third. A string of defensive hijinks compounded by back luck led to another pain in the fourth. |

Re: Chris Carpenter
We brought out the good mound when Travis Wood would pitch.

Re: Chris Carpenter
He was barking at Berkman after Phillips' hit. He had to be calmed down by an infielder.

Re: Chris Carpenter
I don't get into the name calling, but, like other Reds fans, I don't like Carpenter much.
I still think with Wainwright down and other issues, the Cards will be sellers at the deadline. Carpenter is in the last year of his deal and with Pujols possibly going too, the Cards could probably use Alonso. For all his faults, Carpenter could front a rotation in a short series. Could the Reds fans get behind a deal or do we hate him too much?

Re: Chris Carpenter
He genuinely has an anger-management issue. He could get away with it when he had dominant stuff and wasn't tested that often, but the guy is going to be a full-blown headcase of Zambrano-level idiocy as his stuff declines and he starts getting hit harder.

That said, I really don't like him and as much as I want to see the Reds get an ace, I'd prefer it be somebody else.

It would be like the Edmonds situation, only worse.

Re: Chris Carpenter
How does one explain smoke inhalation to his son? That's no laughing matter, folks!

Re: Chris Carpenter
I wouldn't trade Miguel Cairo for Carpenter. I'm serious. I can't stand the guy and want him no where near a Reds uniform.

Re: Chris Carpenter
Him getting pissed off and refusing to pitch until the smoke cleared was hilarious.

Re: Chris Carpenter
Love that Thom+Chris called him out right away for not backing up the throw to third that ended up in the camera well.
Woulda been kinda fun to see him scowl at himself there. Maybe take himself in the dugout and yell at himself in between innings?
