Glen Campbell Diagnosed with Alzheimers
I hate to hear this. I always kinda like him and his music. He had a bunch of hits in the 60's and 70's that were country and bled over into pop music. He was part of the soundtrack of my youth too. He is making one final tour and will release his final album soon.

Re: Glen Campbell Diagnosed with Alzheimers
What a shame. Talented guitarist who crossed over genres. I got a CD of his from the library that I'd recommend to folks, "Meet Glen Campbell" covering an array of different artists: Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, John Lennon, Lou Reed & The Foo Fighters.
http://allmusic.com/album/meet-glen-campbell-r1403004 He did tons of studio work, often with a group that dubbed themselves The Wrecking Crew (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wre...ew_%28music%29) and moved into TV after doing some shows with The Smothers Brothers which garnered him his own show. Just one of the finest guitar pickers with a great, rich voice to boot.

I think he toured with them for a while, but not as an official member.
Always loved his music. |

Re: Glen Campbell Diagnosed with Alzheimers
Sad to hear this. Loved "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" and "Wichita Lineman". Just watched him the other night in True Grit. He was handpicked for that role by the Duke.
He was in great demand as a session musician in the 60's. He filled in for Brian Wilson during tours in 64 and 65 when Wilson was struggling with mental illness. He also played guitar on Pet Sounds.

Re: Glen Campbell Diagnosed with Alzheimers
He did a cover of Mull of Kintyre that was better than the original.
