Interesting stat
Since June 24 (when the second half started for most leagues that play a split-season format), the top two in all of Minor League Baseball in base hits are:
Denis Phipps Ronald Torreyes The top two in runs scored are: Billy Hamilton Ronald Torreyes This is for all leagues since June 24, regardless of whether they play two halves. |

Re: Interesting stat
Pretty amazing that an 18-year-old playing in the Midwest League would rank in both categories.
Is that the date Torreyes started in Dayton? |

Re: Interesting stat
He played the last two games of the first half before the second half started on June 24.
If you like stats of this type, you might want to check out this link. Page four has some streaks on every player on the Dayton club. http://dayton.dragon.milb.com/docume...Game_Notes.pdf |

Re: Interesting stat
I'm very pleased to see that Phipps' transition to AAA has been pretty seamless. He left here with a .328 BA and currently is batting .333 in Louisville. Even though it is only five games it has to give him a little bit of confidence that he can succeed there. Who would have ever thunk it?

Wondering: It mentions that Dayton has won nine of 10 series in the second half. Would the one they lost be the one in which they were deprived of a victory with that screwy rain-game ruling? Last edited by mace; 07-29-2011 at 09:13 PM. |

Re: Interesting stat
No, they won that series. They lost 2 of 3 at Quad Cities. Hayes had his only blown save of the year in the rubber match of the set.
