Wait a minute..............Jacoby Ellsbury

Has 27 HR? I saw this tonight, and my jaw hit the floor. I had no clue, where the heck have I been? After all the injuries he had last year, I'd say he's a prime candidate in a couple of years to be crying on 60 minutes about how he used steroids to come back from injuries, and he hit a bunch of HR's.

Wow. No one is safe these days are they? If anyone hits 20 HR's they are a steroid user aren't they?

I'm not usually one to jump on the bandwagon, but this is darn near Finleyesque, very, very unexpected, and coming off of a long injury rehab.

Red Sox effect...

Not much different than what Granderson has done to a lesser extent.

What are you hiding Doug? You show up out of nowhere just shy of six years ago with knowledge of the minor leagues that's historically unprecedented on Redszone. I don't want to point fingers here, but where there's smoke there's always fire.

Pretty funny/sad eh?

Davey Johnson hit over 40 HR's in 1973, I'm thinking the juice too.

Scouts have been projecting 20+ HR power for Ellsbury for years.

I get this, but if no one asks questions, we end up where we were in 2006. Being vigilant is good, and the watch isn't really national per se - tainting the national conversation, it's just part of the conversation about baseball among fans. Hopefully some of the grumbling can keep players honest.

One of the reasons Johnson was on the Braves was that he wanted more power and put on muscle to achieve that. Earl Weaver said it made him slow in the field and bad on the DP which to him was unacceptable, even if the payback was some power.

Hopefully Janish never bulks up for power!

I'm not buying that. He had 10 career minor league home runs in almost 1200 PA's. 20 career HR's in almost the same number of MLB PA's.

Wasn't Stubbs in a similar situation? Power projection but very limited power displayed?
