Re: NL Wild Card.

St. Louis one game behind Atlanta. Tampa Bay half a game behind Boston. Boston plays New York tonight. Tight.

Re: NL Wild Card.

Red Sox started the season 2-10. In September they are 5-18. A bookend total of 7-28, or .200 wpct. In between those two stretches they have gone 81-42, or .659 wpct. Crazy.

Lackey 12-12 6.49 ERA. vs. Nova 16-4 3.62 ERA. Yikes

How do you have as many wins as losses with a 6.49 ERA?

51 times BOS has scored 7 or more Runs. Roughly 30% of the games they've played.

Re: NL Wild Card.

Did the Reds quit on Dusty this year? The Cardinals were way behind and fought back to get into playoff contention. The Reds not so much. Makes you wonder.

On August 24th St. Louis was only 67-63. 10.5 games behind Atlanta. 10.0 games behind Milwaukee. They could have easily thrown in the towel. They have gone 21-8 since then. Cincinnati 14-16.

Re: NL Wild Card.

Just a pitiful effort by Yadier Molina in the top of the 10th. And I thought he was supposed to be a pro's pro. Very high fly ball and Molina doesn't run at first and then starts jogging and staring at the ball. It bounces off the wall just short of the Crawford Boxes and away from the leftfielder. The centerfielder has to come over and run it down and Molina ends up at second instead of third. To compound things Theriot hits a comebacker to the mound and they throw Molina out at third. Ridiculous effort by Molina on that sequence of events.

Re: NL Wild Card.

Seriously, do any of these teams want to make it to the playoffs? Boston and Atlanta collapsing, Cardinals losing to the Astros...

The Tampa Bay Rays and St. Louis Cardinals would be home if tiebreaker games are needed to decide wild-card berths in the playoffs.

Re: NL Wild Card.

St. Louis at Houston - Henry Sosa goes for the Astros. Not impressed with his pitching at all. Westbrook counters for the Cardinals. Bet the house on St. Louis.
Phils visit Los Bravos - Black is black. I want my ten-game lead over the Cardinals back. The Oswalt-Lowe matchup leans in Philadelphia's favor. Look for a tie heading into the final game of the season.

If there is a one-game playoff this year, St. Louis and Tampa will have home field advantage.
